Halloween Updates

I think the last time I made some new Plini figurines in time for Halloween was 2 years ago. I don't know why I can't plan ahead! The holiday-themed figurines are my favorite, and I just forget about them for no good reason. But not this year! I just updated the shop with a whole bunch of Halloween-themed Plini figurines (and a few black pocket kitties!). I'm a big fan of the witch with her bright green face!

I have a few more figurines sculpted out and ready for painting, that I also want to make Halloween-themed. Some cupcake-topped gals specifically. Hopefully I can get to them in time!

I also recently finished up a custom doggy figurine. I typically only take custom requests on dog figurines because, unlike most cats (which my shop is jam-packed with), dogs look so different from one another. Kitties have a basic shape, but dogs are all over the place. Long snouts, short snouts, pointy snouts, smushy faces, big ears, short ears, ears that stick up, cropped ears, big tails, curly tails, fluffy fur, short fur, underbites, overbites, etc etc etc. I do try to stick to my style of figurine though! How did I do?

And now for some precious new kitty pictures because I'm in love with her. She's the bestest kitty ever! I couldn't have found a better cuddly addition. And she loves to play with my hair.

a refresh

You may recall the infamous blue chair that I talked about in a previous post. I can't find the post, so I'll just summarize. My mom and I dragged it out of the trash, after having earlier discovered it at a yard sale. We offered a price, the sellers refused, we said forgettt that. Imagine our surprise to find it on the side of the road later! They should have taken our money while they could! Anyways, it was in awesome condition those many years ago when we got it, but has since gone downhill. I'm in the process of reupholstering it. It's a nightmare. What was I thinking.

Anyways...a few years ago when I was visiting my parents in Virginia, my mom and I went to an antique store and stumbled upon this gem. It's a GIANT print of a painting of a 70's style girl and her cats. It's titled "Harlequin with Kitten".

When we asked the worker how much it was, he looked at us like we were out of our minds and said "take it!"
Yay! More free goodies!
The other night I decided a nice coat of black paint along the frame would freshen it up. I don't know why it took me so long. The frame has always looked so stained and gross. I imagine some bozo was eating his greasy pizza over it.

And...ta-da! All better! And now it matches my other black frames.

wedding season

Wedding season is approaching! So I've been busily filling custom wedding topper orders and also making some basic sets for the shop. My craft area is a complete mess since I'm working on everything at once. Kind of assembly line style. I think I waste the least amount of paint that way. I'm trying to decide what the best accent color for my basic wedding sets would be to use, that would appeal to the most amount of people. Is there a most popular color? I'm thinking blue, red, and then just a black and white set. At least to start. Or maybe green? Coral? Burgundy? Sunflower?? Ok...enough of that.

I listed a WHOLE bunch of things a few days ago as well. Lots of kitty things. Pocket kitties galore and a handful of "lucky" golden kittehs. I'm hoping to get more of a color assortment with the pocket kitties soon. Just have to find the time!

Recently I finished up an "Easter" custom order and three of the Plinis in the group I made with little decorated eggs on top of their heads. I can't get over how cute they turned out! I'm excited to make more of these lil ones. Along with more "Peeps" and bunny Plinis too.

And finally, the other day I found the cutest wooden "house" at Michael's that I thought would be the perfect tiny display for my Plinis! I later saw on the label that it's actually a CD holder. But it's going to be even cuter when I paint it up like a dollhouse and use it for my figurines!
This photo really shows just how crazy cluttered my craft table is at the moment too! I can assure you that the whole table looks like this...

Just born...a new litter of kittehs in the shop! (and a few others as well). *phew*

a bit 'o flair

Paper Menagerie was nice enough to send out a free piece of "flair" in the form of a button asking whoever got one to take a picture of how they used the button. I must admit I took FOREVER, only having just finally mailed her my photo today and I received the button over a week and a half ago. I was trying to think of something more than just pinning it to my shirt or purse. What do you think?

The cutest shoes in the world....

These might be the cutest shoes I've ever owned.

Aren't they sooooo adorable?

Yeah...they don't fit.

*sniffle*
I bought them on super-final-we're-not-kidding-sale clearance online. They only offered whole sizes. I'm an 8 1/2 and I got a 9 figuring it was better to have roomy shoes than shoes I couldn't even wear at all. But these are far too roomy, even for me. Now what am I supposed to do? I feel like I'm wearing clown shoes. How does one "take in" a pair of shoes?!?

Side note: See the baby kitty poking his head out from behind my legs? So nosy.

a good Tuesday.

I won! I never win anything, I'm thrilled! Unconventional Ida had a giveaway that I learned about through her blog and my name was randomly chosen and I won my choice of 4 of her ACEOs! I can't wait to receive them. She's also having a half off sale of her items to mark her one-year Etsy anniversary which is super cool..but it's only for today..and it's already 10:23pm..I'd hurry on over if I were you for some great deals!

Speaking of artwork..I've been working on some paper works myself. I can't seem to get away from girls and food. I should probably just give in and embrace it. I'm working on the color studies and then *hopefully* I can transform them into some ACEOs of my own! I'm a fan of the black background with pink accents. What do you think?

And in other news...the "children" are too cute for words. The older child doesn't like to play with the baby much, but at least they can tolerate eachother long enough to the point where they'll sleep next to one another! Aah..I can't stand the cuteness.
