the life of a crafter...

...is not easily understood by outsiders.

I feel like the most anti-social individual EVER. I never hang out with my roommates and Lou. I'm always too busy making something, packing orders up, researching/networking. They're all playing video games in the living room and I'm baking/painting these:

Don't get me wrong..I actually prefer to work on my crafts. I think they're a lot of fun. But I don't think non-crafters get that. My job isn't over when I come home at 5 from my "real job" like everyone else. I have to use that "free time" to work on what I would hope would one day turn into my "real job". I have to put the time into it for it to grow. Anything else feels like a waste of time.

On that note, my oven is beeping to tell me my dumplins are done baking!

I know how you feel, it can be isolating when people are all out messing about and you're 'messing around with craft' (as others like to put it). I try to buoy myself up by thinking how wonderful it is to create, to be able to use your 'free' time to make lovely things and get yourself somewhere in the world. Which you're doing a great job at, by the way! :)

Thanks for your support! I try to tell myself all the time that I'm doing this for a good reason. As much as I LOVE to play video games, in the end, when the game is over, what do I have to show for it? Not cash in my pocket..that's for sure.

You go girl! Keep on bakin' Your little dumplins are so cute you'll probably get an offer to have them mass-marketed soon!
I was surpised to see that you make them all white to start & then paint them afterwards - I would've thougt you used different colored clay for the different parts, but of course your method makes much more sense. Good Luck with your endeavors :)
