sketches

I've been trying my best to draw every day. For some reason I have the hardest time when I'm at home, but when I'm at work it's all I can think about. I end up drawing for all of my lunch break. I've manged to fill three sketchbooks over the past few months, whereas it can usually take me much longer. Most of my sketches end up on post-its and lined paper scraps. It's nice to actually have them all organized in one place.
Here's a little bit of what I did the past few days in my fresh new sketchbook.

Could make a cute Valentine's card I think.

When I drew this I was thinking about skating parties. Am I too old for a roller skating party? Would my friends come? Do they think they're too old? I think it would be fun!

Would it kill me to draw wheels in the shape of an actual circle instead of lumpy ovals? Yes. I think it would.

The other day I was telling my mom how one day I'd like to get a tattoo of one of my Plini figurines. A cupcake girly with a green hood and white polka dots. That's what I envision. Does it need a little banner? Eh....I don't know. I wouldn't even know what to put in the banner. {Green is my nickname by the way}

dude, are you serious? a roller skate party would rock! and if your friends wouldn't come, they're lame. fer reals. and you appear to have some cool friends after the oktoberfest thing. love your drawings - those are not sketches, sketches have all kinds of crappy lines.

Thanks Megan. And Jenessa, I know right? A roller skate party would be awesome. But a lot of my friends are are that age now where I think they think they're supposed to be mature. It sounds silly, but it's true! And ok..I admit..my sketches always turn into ink drawings...I can't help it. But there's pencil lines under there somewhere!

Hey! We just went roller skating Friday night! It was so much fun Jam! I think Kurt and I were the only parents out there but I gotta tell ya, I was kicking some butt on that floor! Weeee! I even did the limbo. I only fell once.

Anyway, your sketches are amazing. Your style is really evolving. I think you find it coming easy when you're on break at work because there's no pressure to produce, like when you sit down at home and pick up a pad. Then the pressure is on.

you're so right about the pressure! also, when I'm home I'm surrounded by all of my other crafts and things I have to do. when I'm work, the only thing I have is my pad...so it's easy to focus.
