Onion Overload

For actual Valentine's DAY, the boy and I got a mountain of crab legs from our favorite spot The Reef. I had a lot of leftover crab, so what better to do with them than make crab stuffed mushrooms??
I scoured the interwebs for the best recipe. And finally settled on one by Paula Deen. I love that lady. She knows her stuff. Everything she makes is delicious. ...or so I thought.

So here's how it went...

I'm not sure where I veered...where I went wrong. Actually, no, I know what happened. Onion overload! The recipe called for [in my opinion] an insane amount of green onion. But I had faith in Paula. Paula wouldn't let me down! Plus, this recipe had over a hundred rave reviews. Clearly these weirdos have never had good stuffed mushrooms. Or maybe they were all part of the onion lover club. Or maybe I had a really potent batch of onions. Hmm. Don't get me wrong, I like onions, I just wish I could have tasted any of the OTHER ingredients involved too. I spent like a half hour picking crab meat from crab bodies. I kind of wanted to taste them in what I was making with them.

Here's the recipe if you're brave: Crab Stuffed Mushrooms
I think if I halved the amount of onions, it would have been a lot better.

The top stuffed mushrooms made me giggle :O) So cute! Sorry they did not work out for you but at least you got some illustration inspiration! ;O)

Loved the illustrations with the story! Funny!

Wow, they must have been really oniony for YOU not to like them!

Yum, onion stuffed mushrooms :) I've been there with you. I once made a cake of Paula's from her cookbook and I swear I did it right. But it turned out horrible. I tried to make adjustments but it still didn't work.

I love your illustrations! Very cute and funny! It's good you can see the bright side of it. I think I cried over mine....

Don't you hate that? Sometimes I swear I followed a recipe perfectly and it comes out like crap. The boyfriend is raising an eyebrow and wondering why I'm trying to poison him.

The mushroom part was still tasty though! (I LOVE mushrooms)

Jam, Sweetflutterbys3 is one of my blog buddies. She's the one I was telling you about who always posts recipes.
